Savings growth calculator

See a hypothetical balance with a starting amount, regular monthly additions, and one assumed return.

Runs on this device. This tool does not send or save your entries. Use hypothetical amounts; no account or contact details are needed.

The starting values are an illustration. A negative return can model a steady-loss scenario.

Hypothetical, not an APY or expected market return. Range: −99% to 100%.
Whole months, from 0 to 600.

Choose your inputs, then select calculate savings.

What the model assumes

The annual nominal return is divided by 12 and compounded monthly. Contributions arrive at each month’s end, so the first contribution earns one fewer month of growth than the starting balance. The rate stays the same for the whole period.

No taxes, inflation, investment fees, account charges, or changing returns are included. An advertised APY is not the same as this nominal rate. Real investment returns vary and losses are possible; this result is neither a forecast nor a guarantee. Displayed dollars are rounded, while the calculation uses unrounded values.
